A flatwork ironer's bed needs to be waxed regularly, to guarantee the linen keeps gliding unhindered and therefore wrinkle-free through the ironer.

Wax is applied by means of a wax cloth.  This cloth is carried through the ironer several times, depending on the width of the cloth and the ironer.  For instance: when your ironer is 3m wide, a cloth of 1m50 is put once through the left half and once through the right half.

Our wax cloths are provided with an impervious flap in durable silicone.  This flap is layed over the wax zone, preventing the wax from coming into contact with your roller needlefelt.  This is very important, because the wax would saturate the needlefelt, drastically reducing permeability and attracting dirt.

In addition our cloths have a spill remover strip at the end.  Excessive wax is removed by it, and again, this maintains the service life of your ironer needlefelt.

Our wax cloths are also available with stitched pockets.  Wax is then applied in these pockets.  It has several advantages: wax stays easily in place under the protective silicone flap, and doesn't saturate the spill remover strip.  Furthermore, it is easier to determine the quantities of wax using.

Several parameters determine how often your ironer bed should be waxed, like temperature, type of linen, occupancy rate, speed, residual moisture,...  A rule of thumb is to wax daily when your ironer is used full days.

Waxing is best done at the start of a working day.  Feel at your still cold wax cloth.  If it feels like "cardboard", your cloth still carries enough wax.  If not, add some wax to it.
