Panel filters

FILTER CELLS ARE EASILY REPLACED

Panel filters are encased in a handy frame, making them easy to mount or remove.  Many different kinds of frames exist with a multitude of different filter materials inside.

Their advantage lies in being relatively cheap, making them used mostly as throwaway filters.  In many cases panel filters are used as a pre-filter to remove the coarser particles, leaving the fine filtration to the more expensive filters further in the airflow.  Furthermore, panel filters are often used in industrial filtration and in HVAC systems.

PRICE OFFER AND ORDERING

  • State the type number found on your current used panel filters, no matter what brand they are. This allows us to provide you with exactly what you need.  Filters in standard sizes (like i.e. in air handling units from Lemmens, ATC, Swegon and Lindab) are delivered quickly.
  • The number of items you need.

All our panel filters are tested in independent laboratories and certified according to EN779: 2012 and ISO 16890 standards.  Please contact us for a competitive price offer.

APPLICATIONS

HVAC systems (heating, ventilation and airconditioning)

First of all, panel air filters improve the air quality by removing mid-sized and coarse particles, like pollen, dust, hair and other dirt from the air flow.  Of course this is important in busy building, like offices, hospitals and schools.  But even in private houses these kind of filtration is used.

In addition, panel filters protect more sensitive equipment, preventing dust and particles to affect fans, coiles and heat exchangers.  This extends their service life and reduces the number of malfunctions.

INDUSTRIAL AIR FILTRATION

Often panel filters are used as one or more (primary) pre-filters .  In this way the airflow first goes through the coarser and cheaper prefilter to remove first the coarser particles.  Later the airflow runs through a finer filter to remove the smaller particles.  The aim is to prevent the coarser particles to saturate the finer and far more expensive (secondary) filter at the end of the chain (like a HEPA filter or carbon filter), thus extending its lifespan.  Hence, panel filters are cost effective.

On the other hand these filter cells are used to remove smoke, dust or chemical fumes from the air before circulating or removing it.  Depending on the specific process, specific types of filters are needed.

Some examples: sawdust in woodworking, welding fume and particles in metalworking, dust and bacteria in pharmaceuticals and the food industry, and all kinds of chemical particles in chemistry.

VARIOUS VARIANTS EXIST

Below a selection of existing versions are mentioned.  Depending on your application specific combinations are recommended.  Please contact us for expert advice.

FILTER MATERIAL

  • Fibreglass is relatively inexpensive and can resist high temperatures, up to 300°C.  However, it is unsuitable for fine filtration
  • Microglass fibre does remove finer particles, can also withstand high temperatures, but is more expensive
  • Polyester and Polypropylene are able to filter finer particles, can withstand moisture and chemicals, is inexpensive, but less resistant to high temperatures
  • Activated carbon is very effective in removing unpleasant odours and gases.  But is is more expensive compared to the other materials.

These materials exist in many different kinds, depending on the size of the particles to be removed.  Generally speaking, the following breakdown can be made:

  • Coarse = filter class (according to EN779: 2012) : G2 – M5
  • Fine : filter class (according to EN779: 2012) : M5 – F9

In addition, we provide panel filters made as absolute filter in filter classes E11 up to U15 (EPA, HEPA and ULPA) in a frame of extruded and anodized aluminium.

The filter material is folded (pleated) in its frame.  This created a much larger filter surface.  Our panel filters are available in different thicknesses.

FRAMES

  • In water resistant cardboard. Very cost-effective
  • A galvanized metal frame. This solid construction can withstand high throughput volumes
  • A plastic frame. Ensures a certain firmness together with a favourable price
